Capalbio Cinema 2008 - International Short Film Festival
This event, held every year between the end of June and the beginning of July, is one of the most important short film festivals, certainly the "hottest & most chic". Capalbio cinema is specialized in short films, maximum 15-minute films are admitted, and presents a selection of the best international productions.
An international panel of judges made up of directors, actors, producers and critics presents awards for best film, best direction and best photography.
The festival is organized in two competition sections:
36 films from 18 countries throughout the world compete in the International Competition. Themes widely vary: from the immigration theme to the poverty theme, from the delicate and dramatic theme of child sex offenders to that of old age, without neglecting comedy and satire.
The Short Animation Competition is dedicated to animated short films. 12 films from 8 countries compete.
Non-competitive sections are also included: Short Rights, dedicated to social themes, A Window on Europe, an in-depth study on short cinematography in the single European countries and Short Archaeology, rediscovering the great cinematographers' short films.
