The Bastiani Grand Hotel is a privileged starting point for the discovery of a town, Grosseto, and an entire region, Maremma, still little known but able to enchant any visitor. 

You can start by exploring the historical town centre and, in particular, the ancient town walls, which have survived practically intact to our days, and along which you can walk to enjoy their history and beauty. Once out of Grosseto, you can enjoy the discovery of the archaeological wonders of the area, like the Roselle Park and the Etruscan Vetulonia necropolis. You can also visit splendid medieval villages, Pitignano the best of all, or alternative visitors’ attractions, among which are the Terme di Saturnia and the fantastic Tarot Garden near Capalbio. 

In addition, there are itineraries that explore good food and wines, which are a real must in Maremma. Travelling will never be as tasty as when you explore the excellent wines (red ones such as Morellino from Scansano, Sovana and Montecucco, and white ones, such as the ones from Pitigliano and from the Ansonica bank of the Argentario river), typical products (olive oil, sheep’s milk cheese, cured meats, chestnuts and honey) and unique dishes (the famous “Acquacotta”, Maremma “tortelli”, wild boar “scottiglia” or smoked eel from Orbetello).
